  • Korean War: June 25,1950The Korean war was a very civil war that turned into a powerful war between communism and democracy. About 2-24 million people died and about 70% were civilians. A peace treaty was never once signed. 
  • Vietnam War: November 1, 1955The Vietnam War is one of the most famous wars. It was long and started because conflict between the communist government of North Vietnam against South Vietnam and the United States. The conflict got more extreme between the United States and Soviet Union. More than 3 million people were killed in this war including 58,000 Americans. 
  • Space Race: October 4, 1957The Cold War rivalry went beyond politics and into other competition. The US and Soviet Union tried to outdo each other in Rocket technology.  The rivalry became called as the "Space Race." Nobody was a winner of the Space Race although the tech benefited everyone. 
  • The Bay of Pigs: April 17, 1961The Bay of Pigs incident was when more than 1,000 Cuban exiles stormed the beaches at the Bay of Pigs in Cuba. They did this to try an overthrow the government. Most people know it as the failed Bay of Pigs operation. 
  • Cuban Missile Crisis: October 16, 1962The Cuban Missile Crisis was between the US and Soviet Union during the Cold War. This was the closest two superpowers came to nuclear conflict. I believe the crises was a little different. It involved secret communications and miscommunications on both sides. 
  • Fall Of the Berlin Wall: November 9, 1989Th Fall of The Berlin Wall was five days after 500,000 people gathered to protest on the East side of Berlin. The Berlin Wall divided communist East Germany from West Germany. East German leaders tried to calm the protest by loosening the borders. They did not intend to open the border up completely. This had major consequences.
