- Give us money and we stop attacking
- France wanted support in their war from the US. But US had no money or men so they denied. So Washington then issued a neutrality proclamation. Then France ships attacked US ships.
- Barbary Pirates
- The US wanted Britain to stop attacking their ships, but they wouldn't. So they made a treaty with Britain, then after the Britain problem the French started attacking US ships.
- War of 1812
- France were attacking US ships and wanted money. US denied to pay them so they sent a Navy. The US ended up capturing 80 French vessels.
- Latin American Revolutions
- Pirates attacked US merchant ships, the pirates wanted money. Jefferson said they would not pay them. SO Jeff. sent a navy fleet after war was declared on them. They ended up signing a peace treaty.
- Give Money
- The US wanted Britain to stop attacking ships and impressing sailors. But the US was trading with France, Madison declared war on France then Britain stopped attacking US ships. France and Britain were now allies
- Latins wanted their land, but Spain was fighting them for it. So US helped Latins fight for it and won their land from Spain.
