- Steve is talking in his cell what it feels like to be in prison how he feels like what is going on is not even real.
- ''Sometimes I feel like I have walked into middle of a movie. it is a strange movie with no plot and no beginning. the movie is in black and white, and grainy... i''ll call it what the lady who is the prosecutor called me Monster'',
- Steve is talking to miss O'Brien about the case and how its not going very well and he doesn't want to give up but he is scared that we will lose.
- ''Miss O'Brien came to see me this afternoon. she looked tired... she talked to me for almost an hour. several times she patted me on the head. I asked her if that meant that she thought we were going to lose the case. she said no, but I don't believe her. I am scared''.''
- ''It is five months since the trial, almost a year, minus a few days, since the robbery in the drugstore. James king was sentenced to 25 years to life. Osvaldo was arrested for stealing a car and sent to a reformatory. as far as I know, Bob is still in jail. My mother still doesn't understand what I am doing with the films I am making... After the trial, my father, with tears in his eyes, held me close and said that he was thankful that I did not have to go to jail. he moved away, and the distance between us seemed to grow bigger and bigger''.
- Steve is talking about how what has happened after he got out of prison and his relationship with his parents.
