Storyboard Text

  • Introduction
  • I will remain faithful to my husband!
  • Leadership Traits
  • let me go!
  • Example 1
  • we are from troy!
  • The Trojan war ended ten years ago yet Odysseus has still not arrived back home in Ithaca. His wife, Penelope has to deal with mobs of suitors who wish to marry her and take rule. "I shall not see on earth a place more dear, though I have been detained long by Calypso," (PG. 468) this quote from the story can represent how Odysseus wishes to return home but is being stopped by Calypso, a goddess who is in love with him.
  • Example 2
  • now, don't forget my name!
  • Odysseus is a terrible leader, because of his pride he has still not managed to return home. This scene illustrates how Odysseus has no clue where his ship or crew is, and without their help he is completely unable to escape. "Loveliest among goddesses, who held me in her smooth caves, to be her heart’s delight," (PG. 469) this quote from the story can represent how Odysseus cannot even escape from a sea nymph that is in love with him.
  • Example 3
  • Penelope!
  • This scene represents how Odysseus and his men went into the Cyclopes' cave. The cyclops picked up and ate two of his companions right in front of him and Odysseus did not do anything about it. "He clutched at my companions and caught two in his hands like squirming puppies to beat their brains out, spattering the floor. Then he dismembered them and made his meal," (PG. 475) this quote can illustrate his men being eaten alive.
  • Conclusion
  • i've waited so long!
  • Right before Odysseus escapes the cyclopes's cave he reveals his true identity to him so that people could fear him, but he did not consider that he would only be targeted because of it. This is an example of bad leadership because he let his pride get in the way. "Tell him Odysseus, raider of cities, took your eye:Laertes’ son, whose home’s on Ithaca!" (PG. 484) this quote can reveal how Odysseus shares his identity.
  • By the time Odysseus had made it back to Ithaca, his entire crew had died. If he hadn't made all the unnecessary stops, many of his men could have made it back. "His men fight like falcons that show no mercy to a flock of birds they pursue and capture. When the brutal fight is over, Odysseus can ready himself to meet Penelope."(PG. 516) this quote shows how many Odysseus's remaining men died but he paid no attention to them.
  • To sum it up, Odysseus acted selfish and inconsiderate. He was the only person out of his entire crew to make it back alive, this shows terrible leadership skills because he lead every single one of them to death. This scene illustrates what all the men gave up their lives for, "Now from his breast into his eyes the ache of longing mounted, and he wept at last, his dear wife, clear and faithful, in his arms, longed for." (PG. 519)
