  • Climate is when temperature affects the speed of chemical reactions the soil-the higher the temperature, the faster a reaction
  • Parent material is what provides the original minerals from which the soil develops. It also influences soil fertility and texture.
  • What is organisms and topography?
  • Topography affects the distribution of soil particles and water.
  • Macro-organisms are a source of organic matter and include large plants and animals. Microorganisms microscopic plants and organisms are primarily decomposers of organic material.
  • "All those make sense but then lastly what is time?"
  • Time is initially a thin layer of soil forms on the parent material. There are highly variable rates of formation. Climate & topography also influence the rate of soil formation.
