Hmm... Election day coming up! Should I go to the polls this year? There's so many obstacles to over come...
First of all, I don't even feel like going to the polls! A young person like me has a habit of nonvoting, and I don't have the energy to get out of bed and break the habit! Young people have had little opportunity to make a routine out of voting every year.
Also, there's a large oppurtunity cost for young people to vote! My part-time job and after school activities leave me no time to go vote on Election Day! I can't afford to take time off, and lots of young people don't have the time to learn where the polls are!
PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT!
Lastly, young people like me preer alternative participation to voting. Things like protests, demonstrations, and other forms of activism are sometimes seen as more effective than voting among younger generations.
REGISTER TO VOTE HERE! EASY AND ACCESSIBLE
How can my country get me and my other young peers to the polls? Give the exact information I need! Registering to vote and filling out a ballot is a complex process, and outlining it for young people in places like schools and local communities makes it less intimidating for new voters.
Finally, we shouldreimagine civics education. Youth generations report that it would be helpful if they could be more educated on election candidates and their role as young people in American government. This will make new voters, lifetime voters!
