Icarus is collecting feathers for the flight that they are going to make to try and get to freedom. "He called his son, Icarus, to him and told the boy to collect all of the feathers he could."lines 13 and 14.
Daedalus and Icarus begin to fly above the ocean."As they flew across the land to test their prowess before the dark wild sea, plowmen gazed in wonder, thinking Daedalus and Icarus were gods. Lines 56-59
Minos may control the sea, but he does not control the sky.
Icarus then flies too close to the sun then falls in the water and dies."He cried out to his father, but his voice was submerged in the deep blue waters of the sea..."Lines 77-78
Daedalus then made a shrine for Icarus when he made it to land."...and in the temple he pressed a few bright feathers he had found where Icarus fell."Lines 92 and 93
