Storyboard Text

  •
  • Désirée was a toddler that was abandoned by her unknown parents. She was adopted and raised by Monsieur and Madame Valmondé.
  • 18 years later, Désirée met a man named Armand Aubigny. Armand had lived in Louisiana since he was eight, and his father had brought him back home after his mother died in Paris. Armand fell in love with Désirée and wanted to marry her. Monsieur Valmondé warned him that Désirées background needed to be considered, since no one knew who her parents were. However, Armand didn't care and married Désirée anyway.
  • A couple of years later, Désirée had a baby boy, and Madame Valmondé came to visit her in L'Abri when the baby was 4 weeks old. She was overjoyed at seeing her grandson for the first time.
  •
  • However, there were soon problems between Désirée and Armand. Armand became colder and ignored Désirée a lot. Désirée also suspected that something wasn't right. One day, she figured out the truth: her baby wasn't white. Armand assumed that it meant that Désirée wasn't white, even though her skin was fairer than his. He didn't want to be around her anymore because of how this made him look in public.
  • Things got so bad that Désirée wrote a letter to Madame Valmondé to ask what she should do. Madame Valmondé simply told her to bring her and the baby back to the Valmondé house. After reading the letter, she asked Armand if she should go. After he halfheartedly told her he wanted her to leave, she took the baby and left; she never came back again.
  • Sometime after Désirée leaves, Armand burns all of her and the baby's belongings. While he is burning the old letters she wrote him, he comes across one that was written by his mother to his father. The letter says that Armand's mother was black and didn't want to tell her son...THE END
