  • W...Where am I?
  • You're in the hospital. We had to operate on your heart after you went into cardiac arrest.
  • Am I good now or is my heart still in bad condition?
  • Don't worry; you are in good condition now and you can go home. Don't forget to pay the bill on your way out.
  • Oh my god! I had to pay $700 for this kind of operation in the United States before. I sincerely hope the bill isn't more than 200 euros.
  • I'm so sorry sir, but, unfortunately, your bill will be 10 euros. Unfortunately, medical bills for these kinds of operations in Germany are high
  • The implied message in this satirical story is that healthcare in the U.S. is way too expensive especially compared to healthcare in Germany. Moreover, we used satire in the last slide by stating the price of a particular operation in the U.S. and its price in Germany, and the difference in price was huge. Additionally, the doctor saying "unfortunately' as he tells the patient the price of the operation is another form of satire here since the doctor implied that it was expensive, but, in reality, it wasn't expensive at all.
