  • Students have a right to be able to learn in safe environments. This is shown both through the book ENDER'S GAME, and through what's going on real life. Today, students need to be able to learn in an environment where they can learn without worry. While some of these problems may come from teachers not following protocol, I believe that schools should focus on other issues, as these teacher issues appear to be few and far between, and schools should focus on their other problems.
  • While there may be a couple of teachers who do not follow any protocol whatsoever, they are few and far between, and schools have much more pressing matters to take care of. With groups of limited proficiency English Speakers being the fastest growing American population, (and this just being one example) we now more than ever need to focus on helping students learn along, not nitpick the teachers. Schools are already having to find new ways to obtain teachers due to shortages (" The combination of the need for teachers in critically short areas such as mathematics and science and the public criticism of campus-based teacher education produced situations in which individuals and groups developed alternative routes for teacher preparation.", Teacher Education.)

  • In the Book ENDER'S GAME, Ender, the main character, is caused much stress and worry from another character, Bonzo Madrid. The school directors knew a fight was going to happen, but chose to do nothing anyway. This caused for some serious suffering on Ender's part, even though he won the fight. This can be tied in to problems today, where schools need to put more attention on stopping needless violence. In the Book ENDER'S GAME, Ender, the main character, is caused much stress and worry from another character, Bonzo Madrid. • Student Rights have been debated since in high government places since the 40s. (Information from Driver) Clearly, if its taken us this long to get where we are today, we still need to be putting in some work. In the beginning, teaching was centered around those who were just a small bit troubled with English,, and others where separated altogether.
  • While some may believe that we have already improved enough in areas such as language and removing violence, which is is a good point becuase examples of these have gone down recently ("More than 1 million children receive services for speech or language disorders in public schools as of 2001, representing a 10.5 percent increase from the previous decade.", Whitmore), I believe that cracking down on teachers is not he answer. Teachers go and learn to be a teacher becuase they want to help kids learn, not so that they can break all the rules. In addition, schools already to a pretty good job of reprimanding those who breach protocol. In addition, kids are still out here that need help. (That 1 million isn't all the kids in the world.)

  • Now, you've seen why teachers don't need special negative attention, and why many students out there need out help, that we are totally capable of giving, and that we should focus our efforts on.
