They rode intergrated buses into southernstates. They did this to protest against segregationa nd try to convince the gveremnt to enforce intergrated buses.
Voting Rights Acts of 1965
In 1963, there was a march in Washington, to protest racial discrimination and for jobs and freedom for African Americans. More than 250,000 protesters and it was the largest march in human rights history.

The result of the 1860 election started the civil war. Abraham Lincoln wanted to end the spread of slavery, but not interfere with slavery in the South. Southerners hated Lincoln and believed if Lincoln was elected President that "it would be the greatest evil that has ever befallen this country". When he was elected, southernes felt they would not be able to own slaves anymore which started the war.
