  • In 1773 there was a law that said there was a tax on tea. The colonists were mad about the tax on tea so they threw 340 crates of tea in the Boston river. This made the king mad because it affected the economy. An incident in which 342 chests of tea belonging to the British East India Company were thrown from ships into Boston Harbor by American patriots disguised as Mohawk Indians.
  • In 1765 an act was passed in colonies saying colonists had to house British soldiers and give them things like beer, candles, food, and transportation. This made the colonist mad because they felt the king was invading their space. If the barracks were too small to house all the soldiers, then localities were to accommodate the soldiers in local inns, livery stables, ale houses, victualling houses, and the houses of sellers of wine.
  • On March 5, 1770 in Boston, the colonists taunted the soldiers, but then the soldiers started shooting at them and five got killed. This made both of them mad, and it was a political problem because the colonist didn't want the soldiers in their town. The Boston Massacre was a street fight that occurred on March 5, 1770, between a "patriot" mob, throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks, and a squad of British soldiers.
