- In the classroom
- "Why is your hair so short?"
- During Recess
- "You are too ugly to be on the hopscotch line. Get Off!!!"
- In the Principal Office
- "I will make sure I the other students won't bully her."'
- "Can you please watch the students around my daughter."
- When I was six years old, I was very unhappy with my physical appearance my short hair and my dark skin tone. I wanted to look like everyone else in my classroom since they all had a fair skin tone and long straight hair. They would make fun of me and touch my hair. The girls in the classroom even asked me "why is my hair so short?" I wanted to be accepted like all the other students in my class. There was a girl name Lacher in my class who was darker than me, but the students did not make fun of her. They would just make fun of me.

- "Have a good day at school love you." " Love you too."
- I remember being bullied during recess; I was waiting on the line to play hopscotch when a girl name Rachel walked over to me and told me to get off of the line because I was too ugly to play hopscotch with them, I was so sad that when my mom picked me up from school, I was crying, and I told her what happen at recess.
- Meeting the new students
- "I really love your hair. It's so beautiful."
- "Thank you"
- This situation continued to happen to me where the student's made fun of me even after my mom would come to the school and talk to the teacher and principal and said," Can you please tell the students to stop bothering my daughter."" The teacher and the principal really didn't do anything to stop it. So, my mom was finally fed up with me being bullied and sad all the time that she decided to transfer me to a different school.
- Getting a complement from the teachers
- "Thank you."
- "You are such a great person with an amazing personality."
- In the middle of the school year I was transferred to P.S#12 and things started to change for me there was more students in this school who looked more like me. No one made fun of my hair and my dark skin. I made friends with all the students in the class and there were even students with a fair skin tone and long straight hair, and they would always say hello. They did not make fun of the way I looked they accepted me for who I was, and I was happy.
- I made lots of friends at P.S#12 school and I even started to feel pretty even though me family would tell me all the time that I was born beautiful. And I just had to accept the way that I looked and be happy with my appearance. "The girls in the class would complement to me all the time and say my hair looked nice all the time.
- I enjoyed my years at P.S#12 school the students, at that school helped me to realize that "I am beautiful in every way. I love my dark skin tone and my hair has grown longer since then. I no longer wanted to have fair skin and long straight hair. I love everything about me. Teachers in P.S #12 school would say to me that "I was so pretty" and that and me feel very happy.
