- General Burgoyne had an idea to defeat the American Colonies. He would split up along the Hudson river because he was sure the colonies could not stand being divided
- Battle of Bemis Heights

- What! How did we lose
- Burgoyne led his army south from Lake Champion to Albany. Burgoyne successfully headed south. They first recaptured Fort Ticonderoga then headed towards Albany
- Result
- We did it!! We won
- Americans harassed the British soldiers on their way to Albany. They blocked off the roads and shot the British. It slowed them down and they ran out of food. Some soldiers were sent to Bennington Vermont to find food and horses but that was also blocked off. It resulted in 500 soldiers getting captured

- American set up a defense at Bemis Heights. More militia arrived and they kept gaining soldiers. October 7 1777 Britain attacked and failed miserably. The British casualties were almost at 600 and had to retreat.
- When the British surrendered the colonists felt like they could win the war, they even got the French to join them after this to help in the war, This was a major turning point its why it is named the turning point.
- The Hessians were a huge group of British Soldiers that had all the nice stuff nice clothes, nice guns, they had money and a lot of food.Benedict Arnold was the Leader of the Americans and made sure they did everything right
