  • In response in 1814 a british army invaded washington D.C they burned many buildings including the capitol
  • Madison made a deal with france and britain if they stop attacking american ships they will stop trading with there enemy

  • The British impressment of american sailors forcing them to do there work 
  • On january 18, 1815 7,500 british troops marched to new orleans but soon they met up with jackson's troops and soon it turned into a sea of blood with british troops having to flee

  • So then in  June,18 1812 Madison choose to abandon isolationism and declare war against Great Britain Madison signs the declaration into law and the War of 1812 begins.
  • The Battle of new orleans was the greatest american victory of the war.It was also totally unnecessary Two weeks earlier british and american signed a peace treaty
