Good afternoon everyone. Sure thing!. The locomotive is what I call iron horse. This is a strong engine or wagon that can transport people and products
Mr. Trevithick, could you explain what is a locomotive please?
Hello Britain, this is Jessica from Mexico. And we are here with Richard Trevithick, the inventor of the locomotive.
As time passes by, inventions are becoming popular! Now we have new locomotives made by several engineers.
And today we are with one of those engineers. Good morning Mr. Stephenson, can you please tell us about your first locomotive?
Good morning Mrs. Jessica. Of course, my first locomotive is called the Blücher, I use it to pull coal in my local mine and to help my partner Edward Pease to pull carts full of coal along the tracks.
Mr. Stephenson has a much bigger job. He was asked to build the first railway line between Liverpool and Manchester
The railway includes a huge tunnel, 63 bridges and a viaduct across the river!
Good morning viewers, we are in Rainhill, and the engines contest had begun. This contest has been made to choose the most secure and safe engine to use it on the new railway.
The participants are 4 engineers, including Mr. Stephenson and his son. And the machines are the Rocket, Sans Pareil, Novelty and Perseverance. There's a great competence to win the price of €500!
The railway opened and the winner was the Rocket. The locomotive was premiered by guests of honor, but something terrible occurred.William Huskisson, one of the guests in the Rocket, died for injuries caused by an accident in the locomotive.
Despite the tragic accident, the railway has a big success! Now, many trains pass through the railway, carrying passengers, coal, timber, cattle, sheep and pigs between Liverpool and Manchester. This is a great improvement, and many people agree with it. The new machines made transport much easier!
