  • One way is to differentiate content. In a writing lesson you can let the students write a fiction story about a topic or character of their choice.
  • To begin, teachers must get to know their individual students. They can do this by using a parent survey at the beginning of the year. Formal and informal assessments throughout the year can also help teachers track student learning.
  • Another way is to differentiate process. In a math lesson students can draw pictures to represent amounts, use manipulatives, or a number line.
