They made it so there were two classes the upper-class which were the patricians and the lower class which were the plebeians I was the plebeians. The patricians were the ones who advised the king and were the people that controlled most of the land and held the important military and religious office. The plebeians were the on that were like the non-free patricians which are me. I and the other plebeians made up 95 percent of Rome's population. there were many jobs for a plebeian but I was a shopkeeper
  • We are the consuls
  • Eventually, in 509 BCE, a group of patritians led by Lucius Junius Brutus rebelled and stopped the Etruscan king from ruling they made a republic. patricians had most of the power in the hands of the senate which was a group of 300. Senates served for life. Two consuls shared command of the army the senates were to advise the consul and their decisions were considered law. The Republic made Rome a more democratic place but only the patricians could participate.

  • In 494 BCE, Rome had about twenty to forty thousand people. Most of the people were plebian. Angry because of the lack of power they all marched out of the city and stayed on a hill. We were not going home until the patricians met their needs.
  • Around 451 BCE, a law was made and it was called the twelve tables. Next in 367 BCE, a new law was passed and I stated one of the two consuls must be plebian. I was excited because plebians were finally able to have power. former consuls held their seat in the senate so this change the plebians life they could become senate as well.
  • And even better in 287 BCE, the plebians were able to pass laws for Rome. The number of plebeians who served alongside patricians in the Senate continued to increase. After 200 years of struggle, the plebeians had won their fight for equality. And finally, the plebians were happy because they had power.
