When my generation was young, we had all these ideas about what the future would look like, flying cars, floating cities, and robots taking over the world. However, over the years how has the ‘future’ actually shaped? As my generation is stepping into the working world, how has the workplace changed, especially in recent years? In response to the pandemic the whole world has faced over the past 3 years, the workplace had to make a significant shift in order to continue business safely and effectively. A word often brought up is a hybrid workplace, but what does that really mean?

Instead of your usual at the office workspace, many workers have chosen to continue working from the comfort of their own homes. In turn, we have seen some interesting trends. Companies have realized that workers can complete their work at home just as if not more efficiently. Moreover it is normal for meetings to be held virtually and in shorter intervals. This leaves a lot more room for workers to have more work life balance.

The workplace is not limited to your own city or country anymore either. Being that virtual employment is the new normal, companies can outsource workers from across the globe, potentially even making their business more marketable. In addition, with time zones differences, progress is 24/7.
