- We start with a girl nemeses Parker, but is mainly referred to asQuinn, and her new friend named Max. Quinn's father recently died and along with it went her desire to find out what was going on with her creepily old neighbors. Her father and her called them the Oldies, because they all lived on one street and they're all so old.Quinn and Max have been spying on them by going on runs every morning and taking turn watching them.

- The book starts with Quinn and her new friend Mike begin investigating their neighbors, The Oldies, who have lived on Goodie Lane as long as anyone can remember. They never seem to age and have a strange obsession withstaying young. And Quinn notices that one of them has the exact samebirthmark on his leg that her father did.

- Come to find out they were in fact using dead bodies to sow it onto themselves and use a magical pond to make it part of their bodies They've been doing this in order to stay young. And it turns out Quinn and Max were their next targets as well.
