- Once upon a time a father, son, and their horse were strolling through a small town in Mexico. The father and son wore overalls and boots and were not the wealthiest in the town. Although they lacked riches they still found positivity in their day. The sky was clear and during their walk they passed by the Catholic church and a market which sold warm, fresh tacos.
- “Why have a horse by your side if you aren’t even going to use it for its purpose?”
- All of a sudden they were greeted by a young man. The man was put together and wore jeans and a nice shirt. He seemed friendly as he wore a smile across his young face. As the two men and their horse got closer, the young man began to approach them. He questioned why the father and his son had a horse walking with them if they weren’t even going to ride it. His advice came across as arrogant, but the friendly father and son still decided to take it.
- The carefree father and son decide to base their actions on what the stranger thought, so the son hopped on the horse's back. The father walked along the side and they carried on with their stroll. They walked further throughout the small town on the beautiful day that they had.
- “Why are you making the elderly man walk while you, lazy boy, ride on top of the horse?”
- As they trotted on, they began to see a bright pink figure in the distance. As they got closer and closer they realized it was a young lady dressed in cultural clothing. She wore a big pink dress that ran all the way to the ground and a red flower tucked behind her ear. She looked kind and as the men got closer, she happened to have a comment for the men too. She questioned why the father had to walk alongside the horse and the lazy boy. The father and son took the comment into quick consideration and decided to take it.
- Without much thought, the father and son decided to base what they do on a stranger's input once again. The son hopped down from the horse and the father climbed up top. The father and son could care less about the situation they are in, so they decide it’s best to cater to what strangers think they should do.
- They continued their journey through the town when they saw an elderly woman in the distance. As the father and son walked closer, they noticed a confused expression on her face. Her clothing looked very worn, but her concerned face took away from it. When they got in speaking distance, she shamed the father for making his son walk along him and the horse. For the father and son, they could care less about who walks and rides, so they decided to please the older woman and do what she says. In the father and son’s minds, pleasing others is the easy way out, so it’s what they often do.
- “Shame on you old man for making this little boy walk along you.”
