Joseph was thrown in prison after what happend with Potipher's wife. This didn't stop Joseph from praying to God. And like before, God blessed Joseph. The Prison Gaurd trusted Joseph so much he made him in charge of all the prisoners.
One day one of the prisoners went up to Joseph telling him about a dream he had that he didn't understand. In his dream he saw a vine. He held the king’s cup and squeezed the grapes into it, then gave the cup to the king. Joseph told him that this ment that in three days the king will pardon him. He will make him his personal servant again. The servant was so happy about what Joseph told him. Before he left Joseph told the servant to remember him.
Second in Command
Another prisoner, who use to be the cheif cook, heard about Joseph and told him about what he dreamed. He saw himself carrying three breadbaskets stacked on top of my head. The top basket was full of all kinds of baked things for the king, but birds were eating them, Joseph explained that in three days the cook would be hanged and eaten by birds. The cook couldn't believe it, but both dreams came true.
Two years later Pharaoh had a dream that none of his advisors or wise men could understand. That is when the servant remembered Joseph. Pharaoh brought him and told him that in his dream he saw seven fat cows then seven skiny cows emerged from the Nile River and ate the other seven cows. Joseph explained that there were going to be 7 good years of harvest and 7 years of famine. He also started saying how to prevent starvation.
After Joseph told Pharaoh about the dream he was made second in command. as the 7 years went by they saved food for the next 7 years. During the 7 years of famine, Joseph's family went to Egypt because they needed food. They did't reconize Joseph so he used this to his advantage and tested them to see if they had changed.
Joseph finally told his brothers who he was. They were all in shock. Joseph commanded them to bring his father. When he got they were all reunited as a family. Joseph took them in as special guests. Joseph promised his people they would one day return to the land of his father. As generations went by the Isreaalites stayed in Egypt but forgot about Joseph. So the went from special guests to slaves.
