- slavery grew based off of agriculture economy
- some states wanted to be slave free and some wanted to be a slave state. They was divided evenly so it all states wouldn't just have to be slave free/with slaves.
- Compromise of 1850
- California was a slave free state and Texas remained as a slave state to keep it even.

- Georgians promised to remain a union as long as that stopped trying to ban slavery in new states and territories.

- The supreme court said that the blacks didn't have a right to sue in the first place so the supreme rules him over.
- Slave owner could keep their slaves so the slave owners was pleased with the decison
- Dred scott sued for his freedom because of he was in a free state so he wanted to be a free man
- Abraham Lincoln was the candidate for after the dred scott case which he won the election

- he was trying to end slavery and desire the freedom with dred scott.
- it was for a anti-slavery position . Lincoln won without the help of the southern states.
