- This class is boring, I'm going to check out TikTok!
- Students arrive to class and immediately reach into their pockets for their...dun dun dun... cell phones.
- Yeah! TikTok is so fun and cool! What does it say?
- But after seeing some of the real consequences associated with social media use, the students realize that social media may not be as 'cool' as they had previously thought.
- TikTok-Pediatric suicide up 57.4% from 2007 to 2018-Suicide is the second largest cause of death in children-Teens that use 3 hours or more per day of social media may be at a heightened risk for mental health issues-Am I worth it?
- Since the students had a better understanding of the impact social media usage may be having on them, they were better informed and were able to make a better decision for themselves.
- Whoa! I didn't know all these facts about social media, and I have already been on my phone all morning!
- How about we study for our test next week? TikTok will still be there when we are done and we can choose to use it when we want.
