  • Hey Mar? How do plants make food? And how do they turn that into energy?
  • Well, Lindsay, it's a process called photosynthesis that plants use.
  • All organisms use cellular respiration to turn food into usable energy, or ATP.
  • See these flowers? Their reactants for them to create food are carbon dioxide, sun, and water.
  • They then convert the carbon dioxide to oxygen, and create glucose. with water and energy.
  •
  • So Mar, i'm guessing the products of photosynthesis, glucose and oxygen, is the reactants of cellular respiration!
  • Yes Lindsay! That's how the two processes are related. But even animals go through cellular respiration. They make glucose and need that to turn into energy!
  • Cellular respiration takes place in the mitochondria for animals, and the chloroplast for plants!
  • So the reactants, oxygen and glucose, turn into carbon dioxide, water, and energy!
  • Thanks Mar!
