  • The stamp act was an act by the government say that every official document, newspaper,or pamphlet had to have an expensive government stamp so that the government could earn earn more money.
  • Thomas Paine published Common Sense (1776)
  • Parliament declared that colonist had to only buy tea from the India colony, but the tea was better and cheaper.
  • As the British ship arrived in Boston Harbor, the Sons of Liberty disguised as American Indians and boarded the ship throwing loads of British tea into the Harbor.  
  • Paine was arguing that American colonies need our own independence that British was to far away to govern us.
