"Whut's de matter wid you, nowhow? "You anit no young courtin'gal. You'se uh ole woman, nearly forty".
"Yeah,Ah'm nearly forty and you'se already fifty. How come you can't talk about dat sometimes instead of always pointin' at me?"
Chapter 8 Janie and pheoby conversation based upon help
"Janie,Ah thought maybe de thing would die down and you never would know nothin' 'bout it,but it's been singin' round here ever since de big fuss in de store dat Joe was 'fixed' and you wuz de one dat did it."
Pheoby, for de longest time.Ah been feelin' dat somethin' set for still-bair,but dis is is oh Pheoby! Whut kin I do? "It's too late fuh y'all tuh be splittin' up and gettin' divorce. Just g'wan back home and set down on yo' royal diasticutis and say nothin'.
Chapter 9 How janie feels now jody passed away
" 'Tanin't dat Ah worries over Joe's death,Pheoby. Ah jus' loves dis freedom." "Let 'em say whut dey wants tuh,Pheoby. To my thinkin' mourning oughn't tuh last no longer'n grief."
"Sh-sh-sh! Don't let nobody hear you say dat,Janie. Folks will say you ain't sorry he's gone ."
Jody is trying to keep control of Janie for ever little thing she does he doesn't like. I feel like he wants her to be older and not look younger than she is. According to the text jody feels he can change janie in a way that will make her the way he wants her to be.
So based on the novel people are trying to accuse janie of posioning jody although she says "God in heben knows ah wouldn't do one thing tuh hurt nobody." Throughout this situation pheoby janie's friend feels like she shouldn't leave jody because it's to late in the relationship to split up.
The novel is showing how janie isn't really sad about jodys death because she feels like she has freedom now his gone. An her friend is trying to tell be careful what you say in the dark it will come to light with all these folks. They may think she doesn't care about him at all. based on what she is sayin.
