Intake sessionwrite down below the following information
the sample was made up of 18healthy right handed adults and 22 healthy right handed adolescents recruited through posters or internet advertisements
win $8 lose $10
The participants were called to an intake session to complete some information about their income
More activity in the left ventral striatum
at the intake session they were given $20 to be used as playing money in the next session
At the next session they were in an fMRI scan which showed a spinner split in half, there were 192 gambles in total, 144 weee win or lose and 24 trials that you could win and 24 trials which you could lose
The results showed that in the ventral striatum plays an important role in representing valuation in adolescents which is not present in adults, this shows that adolescents place a greater value on rewards
The results also showed that in both groups analysis of the fMRI scans revealed that as Expected Values increased there was corresponding increased activity in the medial prefrontal cortex (involved in decision making) and decreased activity in amygdala (involved activity in fear responses)
