- The Story begins with the Narrator already sounding like a mad man, trying to prove he is sane. If someone does this to you run, they are most definitely insane.
- Climax
- The Narrator begins to talk about his old roommate and how his eye makes him want to murder him. Of course, while claiming he isn't insane.
- Falling Action
- He describes for 8 days how he is going to kill his roommate, just so he doesn't have to look at a blind man's eye. He would enter the old man's room every night but could never kill him because he couldn't see the eye which was the trigger.
- Resolution
- On the 9th night, the narrator walks into the old man's room and the man is asleep with his eye open this time. He feels intense rage and kills the old man. By smothering him with a mattress until he can no longer hear his "heartbeat."
- The man screamed right before the man killed him and because of this, his neighbors called the police. The man was frantic to come up with a lie saying the scream was him because of a night mair and the od man was out of town.
- The police come into the narrator's home and since the Narrator thinks he has been so sneaky about his hiding of the body he takes them into the exact room he hid the body. The police suspect nothing tho until the narrator hears a ticking sound that he believes the be the old man's heart and confesses.
