Storyboard Text

  • A long time ago, in North Sumatra, there lived a poor young man in a valley named Batara Guru Sahala. He had no parents, but the valley was beautiful, and anything he planted there grew wonderfully. He lived by farming and fishing in the river near his home. One afternoon, after working hard in the fields, he went fishing in the river. Today was not his day, though, and after hours of waiting, he still hadn't caught a single fish.
  • What's happening! No fish! This had never happened before!
  • W-what??! You can talk?!!
  • Disappointed, he pulled his rod out of the water. But just as his rod was leaving the water, a fish bit it. He pulled it out, and was very happy to see a pretty little goldfish on the end of the rod. He was so shocked because suddenly the goldfish talk.
  • I'm begging you... P-Please set me free.
  • Batara Guru could not bear it. He made the fish free. As soon as it was free, the fish change into a very beautiful woman. She attracted Batara Guru so much. He fell in love with that fish-woman. The woman wanted to marry him and said that Batara Guru had to keep the secret, which she had been a fish.

  • Daughters of a fish!!!
  • Batara Guru agreed and promised that he would never tell anybody about it. They were married happily. They had two daughters. One day Batara Guru got very angry with his daughter. He would not control his mad. He shouted angrily and got the word of fish to his daughters.
  • The mother was shouting angrily. Then the earth began to shake. Volcanoes started to erupt.
  • You break your promise! You said you would not say about the fish history!!!
  • The earth formed a very big hole. People believed that the big hole become a lake. Then this lake is known as Toba Lake.And that is the Legend of Lake Toba.THE END
