  • Well here we are. So we are not going to destroy the Alamo, because it's totally worth defending! And now here is William B. Travis who will be in charge of things here at the Alamo!
  • All right guys, time to get to work. Get building those fences and walls! Get some cannons and weapons!
  • People of Texas and the U.S.! We need your assistance in fighting for Texas's independence! Send help to the Alamo soon! Santa Anna has already surrounded the Alamo and will attack soon!
  • Sam Houston was alarmed by how unprepared the Texans were, and ordered the Alamo destroyed and its artillery removed. Houston sent Jim Bowie to evaluate the situation in San Antonio.
  • In January 1836, Jim Bowie arrived at the Alamo with 25 men, and decided the Alamo should not be destroyed. William B. Travis was put in charge of the Alamo. Texans had to work hard to build higher and thicker walls, add cannons, and add high fences made of stakes. The Alamo needed about 1,000 soldiers to defend it, but never had more than 200.
  • HAHAHAHAHA! This is what happens when you rebel against Mexico!!
  • Santa Anna's forces arrive at the Alamo. They quietly occupy San Antonio and begin surround the Alamo. When Travis realizes this he writes several messages to the people of Texas and the U.S. asking for assistance. Travis receives little response to his pleas for aid. Only 32 reinforcements arrive at the Alamo.

  • YEAH RIGHT!!! DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS!!
  • The final assault began on the morning of March 6 1836 at 5:30 A.M. The North wall fell first and William B. Travis was killed early in the fighting.
  • The men retreated into the long barracks where the bloodiest of the fighting took place. Jim Bowie was killed also. All but a few of the 200 defenders of the Alamo are killed in battle.
  • 1800 Mexican troops fought against approximately 189 Texans. All Texans were killed, and approximately 600 Mexican soldiers were also killed. Instead of discouraging Texans, the loss of the Alamo inspired other Texans to carry on the struggle of gaining independence. Sam Houston's army adopted the battle cry "Remember the Alamo!"
