"I'm no robber. I fell of a yacht, my name is Sanger Rainsford of New York City."
"Here in my presence on this island, I hunt more dangerous game....Oh it isn't here naturally of course. I have to stock the island."
Rainsford is an experienced hunter on a way to hunting trip via yacht. He falls off the yacht and swims to ship-trap island. Once he reaches the island he meets General Zaroff, a cossack hunter.
General Zaroff talks to Rainsford about how the hunt started to bore him. Because of this, he created a game where he hunts humans for entertainment. They also enjoy a delicious dinner while they talk about their past hunting experiences and Zaroff mentions how he has the biggest game on the island.
Zaroff tells Rainsford that he is going to be the one being hunted instead of the hunter. "My dear fellow, said the general, 'Have I not told you I always mean what I say about hunting" (Connell 11)
