- Go from your country, your people and your father's household to the land I show you.
- I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
- I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
- Abram trusted what God told him so he took his wife Sarai and his nephew Lot. They set out for the land of Canaan.
- God said: To your offspring, I will give this land.

- Abram built an alter there to the Lord.
- He then went toward the hills east of Bethel and built an alter to the Lord there.
- God also said to Abram: "Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them." That is how many descendants you will have!"
- God then blessed Abram and Sarai with a baby boy even though they were very old.
