- The phrase me too was started by a women by the name of Tarana Burke in 2006, she is an advocate of women against sexual assault in New York City.
- In 2017 after Harvey Weinstein was accused of sexual assault, the #metoo started back up on twitter. Celebrities came out and talked about their sexual assault using the hashtag making it bigger.
- Since picking up movement in 2017. The #METOO hashtag has been used all over the world to bring together women that have been sexual assaulted and harassed. The movement has done great things for women and continues to be used to this day all over social media.
