- Battle of Marathon
- In 490 B.C.E., Darius sent a representative Pheidippides to go run all the way to athens to ask for help, but they were having a celebration of the gods so they couldn't come for a few days. So he ran back to tell everyone else.
- I hope I make it in time!!!
- Imagine losing
- they decided that without any help they would have to fight them on there own. threy used battle formation called Phalanx. The persians had no ecpierence fighting againt them so they defeated them quickly.
- I CANNOT just believe we did that....
- They tried to surrender but they didn't have enough time. They had Pheidippides run all the way back to tell them how they had won the battle. They were in shock and confused on how they won without the help of his army.
- "how on earth could they have won?"
- When Pheidippides made it all the way back to the remaining troops his heart exploded and he died.
- "Rejoice, we conquer......"
