  • Mental wellness is best described as being comfortable with the people around you, your surroundings, and yourself. Emotional wellness refers to how you react to events that occur in your life.

  • 3 Stages of StressAlarm - Your body releases adrenaline and decides whether to deal with the stress or leave.Resistance - If your body decides to stay and fight the stress, you will become tired and weak.Exhaustion - When the stressful situation lasts for a while, the body your body will become very weak and can no longer deal with the stress.
  • Mental/Emotional tension can cause stress. 
  • Defense Mechanisms are unconscious psychological responses that protect people from things they do not want to deal with or think about. Some defense mechanisms are denial, regression, and displacement.

  • Other effects of stress include under-eating, over-eating, fatigue, lack of focus, and depression.
  • Ways to manage stress include relaxation, sleep, exercise, optimism, positive relationships, make time for fun, and solve the little problems.
