  • It takes only six drinks to be drunk and not in control of your judgmental part of the brain.
  • Too many lives have been put on the line because irresponsible people get their hands on alcohol. "More than 15 million adults and more than 600,000 minors in the United States suffer from AUD, and only a fraction of them receive treatment. The severity of AUD varies in individual cases, depending on the number of symptoms the person exhibits." (Alcoholism)

  • A person who has AUD is referred to as an alcoholic, and a person who has AUD but abstains from drinking is referred to as a recovering alcoholic. ( Alcoholism)
  • The terms AUD and alcoholism both refer to alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence. Alcohol abuse occurs when a person drinks dangerous amounts of alcohol or when drinking disrupts the person’s personal, professional, or academic life. Alcohol dependence refers to a physical and psychological need for alcohol. A person who has developed alcohol dependence experiences withdrawal symptoms when alcohol is not in the person’s system.   • Alcoholism affects more than 26% or the United States population, this is caused because there are no or few restrictions on alcohol. With more restrictions on alcohol people may be less likely to have an addiction because it would be harder to get large amounts.

  • The short-term effects of alcohol intoxication include slurred speech, impaired motor function, nausea, breathing difficulties, incontinence, loss of consciousness, and dehydration, which can result in a hangover as the body continues to process alcohol after the enjoyable effects are no longer felt. Drinking too much alcohol can result in alcohol poisoning, which can lead to seizures, coma, brain damage, and death. (Drinking)
  • Macy's dad was a hard working man that truly cared about his family, but sometimes being the only parent that worked in the house he became a little stressed. To relieve the stress he sometimes drank and did drugs, but it often backfired on him. "I remember when daddy pulled up to the garage.   • Alcohol has an impact on ethical, family, and health concerns. One of the leading reasons people are against drinking is due to the fact that being intoxicated put others in danger. Many people are killed by irresponsible people that are drunk in under the responsibility of driving. Also, the leading cause of child abuses because of alcoholism.

  • Many people don't realize that alcohol can have long term effects. It damages the only organ in the human body that can not be healed, the brain. Even though it may prevent heart problems it causes harm to the brain which is the most important part of the body. Alcohol may be a way to have fun and release stress but too many people end of addicted.
  • Studies have observed possible connections between alcohol consumption and lowered risks for certain health problems including coronary heart disease, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease. (Drinking)
  • Taking more precautions on the amount of alcohol purchased in public could decrease alcohol-related accidents and may prevent the later problem of addiction. This small rules could prevent simple things such as health concerns and child abuse.
