  • Even though my husband died in war I worked hard for the union and there win against the confederates 
  • Frances Clayton did many things but of the main things she is known for was the fact that she was one of the 400 hundred women who disguised themselves as men anf fought in the civil war and contributed to the win of the Union
  • Frances Clayton fought alongside her husband until he died in the battle of Stones River and she disguised herself as man while doing so. She also fought on the Unions side during the civil war fighting in the battle of Fort donelson  In addition to the other seventeen battles she fought in
  • Frances Clayton helped fight against the confederates and she contributed to the Union winning.  Frances Clayton is important to history because she was one of the women who risked exposure, disguising herself as a man and fighting for the Union in the civil war and only about 400 women did this just to help fight against the confederates and fight in the brutal civil war. Frances Clayton left the war shortly after her husband died and passed away in 1863
