- This is man vs self because she thought she was lonely and she thinks she doesn't have family since she works at a mill. She kinda thinks its her fault for working at the mill and not at the cabin. "he had gone, she thought of a hundred things she wished she had said.... she had longed to hear his laugh. She was much lonelier after he left".(page 31)
- This is man vs man because Lyddie was having a fight with Amelia, man vs man is when two people have a conflict. "Amelia flushed and her eyes blinked rapidly, she was no longer teasing... Lyddie stared at Amelia with her mouth wide open." Page 90
- This is man vs society because she is expected to sign the petition, but she didn't. Society doesn't like that so that proves its man vs society. "No!" Lyddie, was startled herself that she had spoken so sharply. Both girls looked at her. "I mean, please, don't sign.".......working longer hours, tending more machines, all of which have been speeded to demon pace, so the corporation. ( page 92
