  • Mythology about the City:
  • Wow, did you know that the cite of the city was chosen by throwing the heart of a god?
  • The people threw the heart of God Huitzilopochtli into the Texcoco Lake.
  • The ancient city of Tenochtitlan was built on an island on this lake, Lake Texcoco.
  • Temple of Mayor:
  • Neat! The South shrine is dedicated to Huitzilopochtli, the god of war.  The Temple was located in the centre of the Sacred Precinct. 
  • The Temple of Mayor is 60m high, the north shrine is dedicated to Tlaloc, the god of rain.  
  • Tenochtitlan is the ancient capital of the Aztec Empire.

  • Did you know that several works of art have been recovered from the ruins of Tenochtitlan?
