  • SMALLER AMOUNTS:-Methane-Ammonia
  • In the first billion years of Earth's history the Earth was really dry and there was intense volcanic activity. Which produced:
  • LOADS OF:-Carbon dioxide-Water Vapour-Nitrogen
  • As the water vapour condensed into liquid water though it formed the oceans and this allowed lots of the CO2 from the atmosphere to dissolve in them where it could go on the from carbon precipitate and then finally become sediments in the seabed.
  • INCREASED THE AMOUNT OF OXYGEN
  • PHOTOSYNTHESISCarbon dioxide + WATER --- GLUCOSE + Oxygen

  • ALGAE & GREEN PLANTS
  • Carbon dioxide has declinedOxygen has built up
  • When algae and green plants died they fell to the seabed and became buried in layers of sediments and over millions of years this sediment became compressed from sedimentary rock, oil and gas, which trapped the carbon, to stop it to getting back to the atmosphere.

  • SEABED
  • SEDIMENTARY ROCK
  • OIL
  • During the first billion of years, the volcanic activity increased. This meant that lots of CO2 was created and other gases increased.

  • This is the gases intense volcanic activity CREATES:
  • Lighting creates various gases but the main gas is nitrogen.
