- Hermes the messenger god is sent by Zeus to have Odysseus released from Ogygia island but when Hermes informs Odysseus of the news Odysseus breaks down crying because he has just found out he has been on the island for 7 years but Hermes has to inform calypso so she can release him and even though she is unhappy about it she releases him on a poorly made raft.
- After Odysseus is released he sees an island and starts going towards it but Poseidon who has hated Odysseus ever since he stabbed his cyclops son in the eye and in an act of revenge he destroys his raft with a giant wave and as odysseus held onto a small piece of his raft a sea nymph in the water told him to let himself sink and to take off his clothing and if he does she will save him and he follows her orders and he wraps himself with heraveil and he is carried toward the island.
- After Odysseus arrived battered and naked at the island he ran into 3 ladies, 2 ran away screaming while one stayed to help him and apparently she was the daughter of King Alcinous and Queen Arete of Phaeacia and he took him to them for further assistance.
