The organisation has primarily been providing letter delivery services to consumers, businesses and government institutions. However, the advent of the digital technology has rendered most of its services redundant. New competition has also worsened the conditions for the organisation and made changes imperative in the short-term and the long-term.
So, tell me how did the organization find itself in the quagmire?
What made you think to change the organisation?
The future of the organization is at risk if it continues with the same trend. It could potentially be phased out as the customer needs have changed. In this case, adopting a new modus operandi and new products is necessary.
So what are the challenges that you have faced in the implementation of the change?
Getting buy-in from the executive has been a major challenge. Further, there is resistance to the change by the different stakeholders in the organisation. Further, the bureaucratic structures in the organisation have been posing a challenge as far as speedy implementation of the change is concerned.
So how can I Successfully manage the change
You need to get the executive buy-in through tying the change to the organisation's and individual executive's strategic goals. Provide awareness on the need for change and the impact of the change to the overall organisation goals. Providing training to the other stakeholders and effective communication will be imperative in getting them to support the change.
What else needs to be done to make the change last and enhance the adaptability of the organisation?
The organisation must not only educate the stakeholders but also create structures and policies that reinforce the change and create new behaviors. Outline the vision, empower the stakeholders to drive the change, encourage self-organizing of teams, use internal social channels and influencers, adopt test-and-learn approach, and imbue short-term accountability.
