  • Before the persian was started they were just Independent city-states
  • Then the Battle of marathon happed.
  • The Persian Empire is expanding west and has set its eye on Greece
  • How did the Persian Wars end (What event ended the war)?
  • The Ionian Revolt happend.Ionian citizens attempt to get rid of their Persian rulers. They ask the Greek city-states for help. The Persian ruler Darius is not amused. He want to punish the Greek people.
  • How were the Greeks able to defeat the Persians??
  • The persians invade Greece by land and decide to attack Athens by sea. After most of the have left on boats , the greeks attack the persians and win! A greek sets off running for athens to share the news. The victory gave greece a lot of confidence
  • The event that happend was ,Battle of Thermopylae. 300 Spartans head off the Persian army on a small strip of land called Thermopylae. Then the Battle of salamis happend.The greek trick the persians to sail into a narrow pass between and island and Athens. The persian ships are too large and the greeks in their lighter ,faster ships defeated them. Xerxes retreats back to asia and the persian Wars were over.
