  • You can combine two fractions with a common denominator by multiplying their numerators together (the top numbers). Because the size of the equal parts does not vary when the two fractions are combined, the denominator will always remain the same.
  • If you're adding two fractions with a common denominator, you can combine them together by adding the numerators together (the top numbers). The denominator will always stay the same because the size of the equal pieces does not change when you combine the two fractions together.
  • 1/4 x 5/4
  • Cross-multiply the two fractions and add the results together to get the numerator of the answer. Suppose you want to add the fractions 1/3 and 2/5. To get the numerator of the answer, cross-multiply. In other words, multiply the numerator of each fraction by the denominator of the other:
  • 1/3 and 2/5
  • 2- you need to find the least common multiple (LCM) of the two denominators. To subtract fractions with unlike denominators, rename the fractions with a common denominator. Then subtract and simplify
  • 1- To subtract fractions with like denominators, subtract the numerators , and write the difference over the denominator.
  • 1. 45−252. 7/9 - 2/3
