- Protests and riots break out in Cuba and Isabel's dad is threatened by the police.
- STOP THIS !!!!!!!!!!!
- Isabel and her family decide to leave on a raft with the Castillo's. They head to Miami, Florida.
- Their raft gets caught in a storm and loses direction. Hours later, they arrive in the Bahamas, where people quickly help them by giving them food and medicine. However, they were not allowed entry in the Bahamas.
- They turn back and head to Miami to find safety. Their raft had too much weight, so they decided to alternate swimming in the water. They did not know that they were swimming in shark-infested waters. Consequently, Isabel's best friend Ivan gets attacked by sharks. He dies minutes after they help him back on the raft away from the sharks.
- Isabel and the others continue to proceed and eventually catch sight of Miami. As they head for shore, an American coast guard spots them and attempts to capture them. Isabel's grandfather, Mariano Padron, decides to distract the coast guard by pretending to drown. The coast guard saves/captures Isabel's grandfather and decides to take him back to Cuba.
- Help!! I'm Drownig!
- Minutes later, Isabel's baby brother is born on the raft. However, the coast guard was still chasing them, and Isabel's mom was in no condition to swim, so the Castillos decided to push the raft forward to make it reach shore faster.
