Growing up, my mom homeschooled my younger sister and I. She worked from home and created a successful business for herself.
My mom, my sister, and I became very close because we spent everyday together. My mom always taught us that we could do or be anything in life. She taught me to show people love through actions.
Because i was always with my mom, I was very used to talking to adults. I often felt like it was almost easier to talk to adults than kids my own age.
When i got to highschool and started making friends, I became insecure with how I was raised. I withdrew from my family a lot during this time.
The friends I was making were a lot different than me, but I wanted to fit in. I thought everyone else's parents were so much cooler than mine.
I started to resent my mom because it felt she did not understand. I started to not tell her a lot of the things I was doing.
Now that I am a junior in college, I have learned that my mom truly just wanted the best for me. I am very thankful for the way she raised me because it has helped me a lot through college.
We are very close and talk almost everyday. I am much more open with her and she has also loosened up quite a bit. She has truly shaped me into who I am today and I am so thankful to her and my sister.
