Oil by Katherine Hamby

Storyboard Text

  • Oil is formed when the remains of dead animals and plants sink to the ocean floor.
  • Then, after a while, there is a layer of sand over the remains and, due to the high pressure, air pockets are formed.
  • Oil is extracted by drilling wells into the Earth's surface. Once oil is found it is pumped out of the Earth.
  • Once the oil is extracted it is made into clothes, plastics, and other everyday items.
  • Some nations have more oil than other nations.
  • That can cause wars because oil is nonrenewable, meaning we cannot recreate it. Once it's gone, it's gone forever.
  • We could fix this problem by having one main distributor of oil instead of hundreds
