When the water goes into the gutter, keep in mind that it has contaminants like dog waste, litter, trash runoff, and nitrogen and phosphorus pollutants in it. This water is no longer clean. In fact, it is extremely polluted.
When the water goes into the gutter system during a storm, the amount of water can overflow, causing the dirty stormwater runoff to mix with filthy sewage water.
This water overload confuses the pipes, and all of the sewage water and stormwater runoff is dumped into the Hudson River.
The water flows into the River. The animals are now surrounded by sewage, pollutants, and trash.
Then...I'm tearing up, hold on, the fish and birds can eat the trash and die or get stuck in pieces of trash and drown.
Just picture that sad bird face...(sniffle, sniffle) Stormwater runoff and New York City gutter systems hurt the environment and kill innocent birds just because we're too lazy to purify the water.
