Buddhism began in India with Prince Siddharatha who saw the pain through three separate rides around his town in his horse and chariot.
The first time the prince left his palace he sawan old man walking hunched over with a cane. The prince had never seen an oldman unkept and unfed. The Prince asked the chariot driver “What is wrong withhim?” The chariot drive then explained that this is what getting old looks likeand how everyone will grow old including the Prince.
The prince again left his palace for a secondtime and this time saw a sick person. The prince had never seen a sick personand had never himself been sick. The prince asked the chariot driver, “What iswrong with him?” The chariot driver then explained this is a sick person andhow everyone can get sick including Prince.
The prince left his palace for a third time andthis time saw a corpse. The Prince had never seen a dead person before, so thePrince asked the chariot driver, “What is wrong with him?” The Chariot driverthen explained that this is what death looks like and how everyone will die oneday including Siddhartha.
After he saw these, The Prince went on a journeyacross the countryside. He soon went to a temple. The prince did not find the answers he waslooking for at the temple. He left and went to meditate.
While the prince meditated, he found his answer. The Prince shared what he found with others and soon gained followers. He became known as Budda.
